Military Veterans Bill 2011
There has been quite a bit said just lately with regards to the Military Veterans Bill of 2011. Just recently I received a message via Facebook with regards to registering with The Veterans Administration.
I have done so and would suggest that every ex-member of the SADF do so. It may be to your own advantage. I have made both the Ministers speech, which I managed to find, from November last year available as well as the proposed new bill. Read them carefully.

I have found an update to the Veterans Bill issue, and it doesn't bode well. In some of the latest reports it seems that we have people (youngsters) as young as fifteen (15) registered as veterans, which war they fought in is still a matter of conjecture.
How they managed to get registered as veterans is even more of a mystery.
I have attached the update, which was written by Deon de Lange:

I am adding another update here on the Veterans Bill. It seems that some that served in the past, and some who still serve in a reserve capacity today are not deemed to have been part of the former SADF or part of the SANDF. As has been pointed out on sites like Facebook, the current application of the bill would in effect rule out certain other 'units' such as MK, not to mention the potential for mass class action applications.

According to sources the debate with regards to whether or not National Servicemen were considered to be a part of the SADF because of their conscription status seems to have been resolved. National Servicemen were finally recognised as veterans in the Military Veternas Bill which was approved on the 29th June 2011. Means testing to determine benefit status still needs to be defined and only those who qualify for benefits will receive them.
Below is a document in relation to the above and also the form requsting application forms for registration on the Military Veterans data base.
